Amazing “Back to the Future” DeLorean Replica

I spotted this on a drive to upstate New York last weekend and was absolutely floored. It even has the “Mr. Fusion” device on the back, replete with bright green liquid.

I was a little bummed the license plate wasn’t “OUTTATIME” but the actual text (“NO PAINT” – referencing the DeLorean’s stainless steel body) is better than nothing.

Anyway, I couldn’t find more details on this guy online, so if anyone knows anything (or finds this via Google) I’d love to get more info and/or photos.

Related nerd note: I shot this with Instargam, and their camera-stabilization is pretty impressive. Look now the hood of my car is bouncing around while the DeLorean itself stays perfectly smooth.

Steven Seagal’s Energy Drink Commercial

You’ll think this is a joke until you see Mr. Seagal himself at :19.

Then you’ll think, woah, is this a real ad?!?!?

Then you’ll see the total length is 1:54 and realize it was never meant to be broadcast in a paid media environment.

Then you’ll just feed bad for Steven Seagal. Until you read this article about how much of an asshole he is. Then you’ll laugh a little bit and continue on with your day.

Pouring a Gold Brick

This video is pretty amazing. It shows how a bucket full of earrings, watches, and other gold hardware is converted into one of those classic gold bricks. I didn’t think I’d watch the whole thing, but I did.

What It’s Like Directing The Emmys

While watching big live televised events over the years, I’d figured something like this was happening behind the scenes. But it’s cool to actually see it in action.

This is video shot by CBS Exec Jodi Roth (@rothjodi) of the talented director Glenn Weiss doing his thing.

The Stepkids Cover “Suit & Tie”

File this under “so wonderfully unexpected.”

The thing that makes this quirky jazz rendition of “Suit & Tie” so amazing is that these guys aren’t your run-of-the-mill Holiday Inn trio; they’re The Stepkids, a world-class eclectic trippy R&B trio with fans across the globe (including Radiohead’s Thom Yorke).

Bravo for embracing the genre, and for not taking themselves too seriously.

The User is Drunk

An interesting way to think about website usability, created by Squareweave.

Basically, if you assume your users are drunk (blurry vision, short attention span, etc…) you can make a UI that gets out of the way and makes your website easier to use.

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Bitcoin (But Were Afraid To Ask)

This video series by the Khan Academy is an extremely informative and approachable high-level overview of Bitcoin and all the technologies associated with it. I’m planning to make my way through it this weekend.

Ship Just Got Real

This is one of the most entertaining yet simple video game trailers I’ve ever seen. The game itself (Leviathan Warships) looks pretty interesting too.

How a Watch Works

Even though this video is from 1949, it’s incredibly well produced and informative. Good if you want to geek out for 20 minutes.

Reddit Cringe

There’s a very special portion of Reddit that I follow called Cringe. It’s amazing.

What is cringe? Well according to Reddit user DrSandBags:

“True cringe makes you feel so much pity for the subject that finishing the video becomes physically uncomfortable.”

Some recent examples to give you a little taste include Awful Band Plays For Soldiers, Crackhead “rapping” at the Apple Store on 5th Ave, and Polish kid covers a Lil Wayne song.

Cringe is also where I found this peerless piece of internet gold (and perhaps the funniest video I’ve ever seen) titled “Wedding – epic bagpipe malfunction”. Buckle up.
