Disabling the “Could not export the clipboard because it is too big to export” Photoshop Warning

As an active Photoshop user, I usually get this error message a few times a day:

Well today I decided to do something about it, dammit. Turns out it’s an easy fix; just go into the “General” tab of your preferences and uncheck the box called “Export Clipboard.” Duh.

As image file sizes get larger and larger, I don’t know why Adobe doesn’t disable this by default in future versions of Photoshop. Do many people actually copy something in Photoshop and want to paste it elsewhere?

Thank God. This had been bugin me for about 1 year since I switched to Mac. I never bothered to lookup how to fix it – wish I had known back then how easy it would be. Cheers!

Yes, I actually copy and paste from photoshop to illustrator A LOT. This clipboard issue is extremelly random, and I’m actually trying to understand How the F* it works. I have an iMac 2008 with 4gb ddr2 RAM and I have no problems Cmd+shift+C-ing a file in photoshop and pasting it whole in illustrator with a riduculous amount of pixels (about 9000px). But my retina 13″with an 8gb ddr3 can’t even handle 3000px without causing this issue. Seriously, WTF…

I don’t need the message but I also do need to copy entire pictures for pasting into other Photoshop files. The other message I don’t need is the “no pixels are more that 50% selected the selection edges will not be visible”. Why can’t these messages be turned off.

I also need to copy to other programs constantly and the problem is very serious. Why can’t CS6 Photoshop simply handle exports to Illustrator, to mail or whatever?

THANKS! Who knows why adobe didn’t think about this problem. It seems they produce their software without using them! Thanks Mike.

Thanks for the greta advice, I too have been putting up with this for ages. I thought I needed more RAM or something. I’ll just need to remeber to switch it back on when coying images to AI.

I’ve been using PS6 for 8 months, and didn’t care about it hehe. I just realize later that there is a flying mosquito everytime I export the file.

You actually make it appear so easy together with
your presentation however I in finding this matter to be really one thing that I feel
I’d by no means understand. It sort of feels too complicated and very vast for
me. I’m taking a look forward to your next publish, I’ll attempt to get
    the dangle of it!

    Q. “I don’t know why Adobe doesn’t disable this by default in future versions of Photoshop(?)”

    A. Because the MF’s at Adobe just. don’t. care. about your user experience. One of hundreds or irksome quirks, many of which have been around since the beginning of time. (Number one for me is ‘Select unused switched’ in Illustrator failing to do so).

Thanks for this fix though—very appreciative!

This should be handy in general though I do actually find pasting a path into illustrator from photoshop very useful for when I want the shape of an image to become a vector so might have to toggle it on and off..will have to see if that in itself will be a bigger bother or not!

I get this error all the time, many times a day. What’s more annoying than the error message is the fact that the answer was a google search away since 2013 and I never bothered to check. Well played.
